Overview

The Port Hope & District Agricultural Society Fair is a long-standing community tradition celebrating agriculture, culture, and local talent. For this project, I was tasked with modernizing their brand identity and creating promotional designs that honor the fair’s heritage while appealing to a new generation of attendees.

My Role - I led the design process by developing a refreshed brand identity, crafting marketing assets, building a digital prototype, and creating motion graphics to promote the fair across social media and print platforms. The goal was to strike a balance between tradition and modernity, making the fair feel welcoming and exciting to the wider community.

Goals

The main goal of this project was to design a strong, family-friendly, and community-centered brand identity for the Port Hope & District A gricultural Society Fair. The focus was on capturing the fair’s long-standing tradition while presenting it in a modern, engaging way t hat appeals to both locals and visitors. Along with building the brand, the project aimed to create a consistent visual language across print and digital platforms, develop an intuitive and appealing website prototype, and design promotional materials that highlight the fair’s events and values. Additionally, a key objective was to deliver a functional and visually engaging prototype to help the fair strengthen its community presence and enhance visitor experiences.

Challenges

One of the key challenges was designing a logo that was both visually impactful and adaptable across a wide range of mediums — from digital to apparel to motion graphics. The client required several variations of the logo to suit different formats, including horizontal, stacked, and icon-only versions. Ensuring consistency across all these variants while maintaining brand recognition was critical. Balancing boldness, legibility, and versatility required multiple design iterations and close collaboration with the client to meet their specific expectations.
