Overview
The Durham Family Advisory Board (DFAB) is a community-focused organization dedicated to supporting families and amplifying their voices within the Durham Region. DFAB provides resources, advocacy, and opportunities for families to connect and grow together.
My Role – I worked with DFAB as a designer to create a cohesive and engaging digital presence. My responsibilities included designing branded social media content — such as Instagram posts, stories, and reels — as well as developing the layout for their program book. The goal was to ensure all materials felt visually consistent, approachable, and reflective of the organization’s mission.
Goals
The primary goal was to design visuals that captured the warm, welcoming, and supportive nature of DFAB while remaining clear and professional. For social media, the focus was on creating content that stood out in feeds, encouraged engagement, and shared key information in a way that was easy to digest. For the program book, the objective was to design a layout that highlighted DFAB’s initiatives and resources in a structured, reader-friendly format while staying consistent with the organization’s branding.

Challenges
A key challenge was adapting DFAB’s identity across different platforms and formats. Social media designs needed to remain bold and recognizable, while still being flexible enough to work across posts, reels, and stories with varying amounts of text and imagery. For the program book, the challenge was organizing dense information into a layout that felt clear, inviting, and aligned with the overall brand style. Balancing accessibility with visual impact was essential throughout the design process.
